It was a tight run battle after the first half with Richard Bambett scoring twice and Chris Latu getting across for the Blueheelers while a first-half double to Peniona Tamanisave and one try to Shorne Ngu kept the Waratahs in touch.
The home side was able to head into the break with the ascendency as Michael Mogliotti was able to get over right on the halftime siren to give Yenda a 22-14 lead.
The Waratahs were able to strike first after halftime, with James Girdler getting through the Yenda defence before drawing the fullback and passing off for Michael Uin to score to make it a four-point game.

Scores were level soon after with a cross-field kick from Ben Vearing taken by Tamnisave, and he managed to ground the ball just before the dead ball line for his third try of the afternoon.
The Waratahs were starting to charge and looked likely to take the lead, but Yenda was able to hit back as a smart grubber in behind the defence was pounced on by Jacob Busnello to see Yenda leading 26-22 with 20 minutes remaining.
The tides turned once more as with Moses Lolohea in the sin-bin, Tom Sellars was able to make the most of the field position after back-to-back penalties, while just before Lolohea returned, the Waratahs took the lead with Ngu getting his second of the afternoon.
The Blueheelers pushed hard to claw back into the game, but the Waratahs held on to take a 30-26 victory.
