The workshop brought students together with mentors from the music industry to learn the ins-and-outs of production in a two-day course culminating in a recording session overseen by Sydney producer Taka Perry and acclaimed musician Budjerah.

The first of the three songs to be played was "Flowers," a pop ballad from the minds of Alana Bernardi, McKenzie Dowell, Elaina Nayden & Shemeikah Monaghan. The song was aired not long ago on the 'Murrumbidgee Matters' radio show.

Alana Bernardi explained the process of writing the song. She explained that they started with the story of the florist and added the melodies and production magic later on. They were especially inspired by Billie Eilish's work.

Miss Bernardi added that watching Taka Perry produce had inspired her to look into the production side of music, alongside her enjoyment of performance.

The group hasn't come up with a name for their quartet just yet, but they're working on it.

A teacher involved with the program said that the program had really helped some of the students express themselves and find confidence.

"It brought some of the kids out of their shells as well... gave them some of the confidence they might have lacked before. It really helped their self-confidence .... I'm very proud of the kids," she said.

"Flowers" was followed this week by 'Teen Troubles,' an indie piece from Katerina Bertolissi and her co-writers Corey Charles and Paige Sergi. Next week promises to release hip-hop anthem 'Yindyamarra.'

The Flowers group said "We liked Yindayamarra" when asked to pick a favourite of the three, but were quick to add that all were good in their own way.

There are big plans going forward, with Flowers entering the Triple J "Unearthed High" competition this year. The group also hopes to be able to perform the song live at a number of events coming up.

In a final comment, the girls were upfront with their goals for the future.

"We want to be famous."
