GRIFFITH kept the pressure on Mangoplah-Cookardinia United-Eastlakes in the race for the Riverina League netball minor premiership with a 44-28 road win over Wagga Tigers on Saturday.
Played in torrid and wet conditions the Swans handled the elements better, especially in the second half, to improve their season record to nine wins, a loss and two draws.
Griffith is level with the Goannas atop the table, but the defending champions have a game in hand and a superior percentage.
The loss was a costly one for the Tigers, who now drop back to sixth, with Collingullie-Glenfield Park replacing them in the top five after a 75-18 win over Narrandera.
"The weather was horrible but the girls played really well. It was close for the first half and the third quarter we clicked into that extra gear," Griffith coach Georgia Fuller said.
"At the start of the season, with such a young side we wanted to look after the girls as players and focus on that team element."
