Conditions for golf last Saturday at the Griffith Golf Club were trying to say the least, a heavy course, freezing wind and at times sleety rain made for a tough day at the office.

Michael Gaffey relished the conditions, carding a score of 42 points this added to his 38 points first round saw him easily take out The Area Builders honour board event with a total of 80 points. First-round leader Michael Turnell slumped to 30 points to add to his 41 point first round to finish second on 71 points.
The event of the day was a single stableford, also the second round of the Area Builders, with despite the conditions, 85 players turned out. Anthony Ross took out A Grade with 35 points, carding eight pars. Aaron Lawler 34 points, runner-up, nailing a birdie on the 16th on a countback over Tony McBride 34 points.
Liam Blanch 33 points won B Grade, Keiron Edwards 33 points second The conditions suited the C Graders, Michael Gaffey 41 points taking the win ahead of Taoloa Toru 40 points.
Paul Josling won the 4th pin, Steve Matheson 7th, Chris Forwood 8th, Byron James 11th, Jarrod Gale 15th, Ian Arstall 16th.
Much better conditions greeted the 51 golfers in Sunday's medley single versus par. Col Vearing won A Grade with a score of +1 on a countback over Chris Richards +1 on a countback over Matt Staines. Staines plays off +4, which means he fired five-under-par 66.
Jeff Wiscombe -2 won B Grade, Derek Langford -3 runner-up on a countback over Alf Franchi and Llisoni Koro.
All the best scores in C Grade, Taoloa Toru, won on +3 from Trent McFadzean +2. McFadzean won the 7th pin, Staines 8th, Darren Forrester 16th.
All golfers are reminded that masks must be worn around the Clubhouse and Pro Shop area, and they must sing in, using the app or using pen and paper. Flag sticks must not be touched or removed.
Today's event is a single stroke, Saturday and Sunday, both single stablefords. Despite the intermittent rain,31 veterans turned out to contest last Thursdays single stableford. Geoff Smith 38 points won Div.1 ahead of Derek Langford 36 points.

Another single stableford on Thursday, the last round of the Winter Cup. Only eight players in last Wednesday's single stableford won by Taolo Toru 36 points, Nathan Wiscombe 34 points second.
