Primary school students were asked to imagine what Griffith would be like in the future and create an artwork that reflected that.
Gaureesh Duggal and Xavier Atkin from Griffith North Public School imagined the Griffith of the future as using the likes of a Godzilla like creature and solar panels on top of very tall buildings to generate renewable electricity for the community.
"I drew a movie character who blows blue fire electricity out of his mouth. I thought he could help provide electricity for our future city" said Gaureesh.
"I drew tall buildings with solar panels to make clean electricity for the city" said Xavier.
Griffith Public School student Azaan Jan drew things that he thought Griffith was missing like theme parks, bigger shops and an international airport whilst his classmate Darlene Sogi Tasila drew her a Japanese inspired town with cherry blossoms, a geisha and sushi trains.
"I thought I would like to draw Griffith in the future flooded, so we could live underwater in bubbles and have tubes under the water to travel between towns" said Cole Potgieter from Verity Christian College.
His friend Nikara Little, also from Verity, said that her artwork explored themes of how the past can impact the future.
Griffith City Council Mayor, John Dal Broi said that he was 'really impressed' with all of the entries submitted.
"The winning artworks reflect the wonderfully creative imaginations of our younger residents" Councillor Dal Broi said.
"Our aim with the competition was the get the kids thinking about the future here in Griffith because that's what our Community Strategic Plan is all about, the future and how we can achieve what residents want to help make it an even better place to live."
Ray Wholohan, the Coordinator of Griffith Regional Art Gallery said that it had been a difficult job to chose only six winners out of all the excellent entries.
"I want to congratulate everyone who took the time to create a masterpiece thinking about what our future might look like," Mr Wholohan said.
"We certainly received some very imaginative ideas."
The artworks will now be used in an exhibition at Griffith Regional Theatre's ArtSpace.
