On the 26th of May, 1951 they married at the St Albans Church in Griffith, enjoying a wedding breakfast with close friends and family at the Community Women's Association Hall.
They then spent their honeymoon in Manly and settled on 'Invercargill' Erigolia which Sydney had bought from Fay's father in 1950.
At the height of their enterprise, they were running up to 12,500 Merina sheep and planting up to 7,000 acres to crop each year.
In the 1970's, they fought tirelessly to bring electricity and water pipe lines to farmers in the area and continue farming today, albeit with a slightly small acreage and a lesser number of sheep
According to daughter Caroline, both her parents have always believed in hard work and community service.
"Over the years they have committed themselves to many hours of community service including both taking on roles of President and Secretary of the Rankin Springs War Memorial Hall where they worked with other members of the community to raise funds for improvements including the new supper room and air-conditioning" Ms Wade said.

They also worked passionately for the Rankins Springs School and P&C, the Anglican Church, Silo Committee, Masonic Lodge and even in Local Government for a number of years.
"Both my parents have always been involved in fundraising and working bees to make improvements for the community" Ms Wade continued.
So what is the key to such a long period of time together?
"Tolerance, trust, patience, hard work and a good sense of humour are all key to ensuring a long and happy marriage like ours" Sydney and Fay Wade said.
