Currently, Pfizer is on offer to those between the ages of 40 and 59, however anyone who is under the age of 40 and meets additional eligibility criteria will also be able to book in for an appointment.

Previously, AstraZeneca has been the only vaccine available for administration In Griffith, which is available for people who are aged 60 and above.

Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network (MPHN) Acting CEO Narelle Mills commended the massive effort undertaken by the general practice respiratory clinics in getting residents both tested and vaccinated safely.

"We extend a huge thankyou to our local general practice respiratory clinics, who have been working tirelessly for months to meet the increased demand for both testing and vaccinating our residents," Ms Mills said.

Keith Fletcher, Owner of Your Health Griffith said that staff at the vaccination hub were excited to now offer Pfizer as a vaccine option alongside AstraZeneca.

"We are really keen to get our community vaccinated, and we will do everything in our power to get it done as quickly as possible" Mr Fletcher said.

Whilst supplies are more limited with Pfizer, there is an abundance of AstraZeneca vaccines available.

"It really is all hands on deck at the moment, our local general practices and the hospital system is doing a great job" Mr Fletcher said.

MPHN COVID-19 Pandemic Lead, Dr Alison Koschel is encouraging anyone who is eligible to consider booking in for their COVID-19 vaccination as soon as possible.

"Now that the Pfizer vaccine will be more widely available for our eligible community members, I encourage anybody who has been holding off to book in for their vaccine," Dr Koshel said.

This can be done by phoning a participating general practice, the Griffith vaccination hub or booking online.
