A grim sight for Griffith recently, as four dog carcasses were found tied up in bags on the side of Rifle Range Road, just a few kilometres out from Beelbangera.

The dogs are thought to have been abandoned there for anywhere from three months to a year, judging by the decay and weathering.
Accompanying the dogs were a number of destroyed flip phones with no SIM cards, along with generic rubbish and debris that has been dumped in the area.
Griffith City Council, the police and the local RSPCA representative have all been contacted regarding the dumping and are investigating. Griffith City Council confirmed that no microchips were found in an initial search and have now disposed of the bodies.
It's not currently known why the dogs were abandoned, but RSPCA Inspector James Arentz said that there isn't any excuse for the mistreatment.
He said "In this day and age, there's so many agencies and organisations who can help people with their animals, without feeling compelled to dispose of them in some other way. Why wouldn't you just ring up a rescue, or council?"
"Just pick up the phone."
Griffith police station confirmed that they had been alerted to the incident but that it was being dealt with by the council rangers in partnership with the RSPCA.
Inspector Arentz said that it was unlikely to lead anywhere.
"Sadly, someone's definitely gone out of their way to do what they've done ... They've been there for so long, there's very little chance of finding someone."
The Griffith city pound can be contacted at 6962 8100 for help with unwanted animals.
