The home side was able to make a flying start as great through ball from Dem Torino found Chaise Donetto with the speedster able to pick out Daniel Johnson in the box who tapped the ball home.
Young was able to get themselves back into the game with Hanwood giving away free-kicks in dangerous areas and a couple of corners, but despite being peppered, the home side defence stood strong.
Torino was able to pop up with a goal of his own while Daniel Rogato continued his strong performance with his seventh goal of the season as Hanwood took a 3-0 lead into halftime.
The Hanwood side was forced to make a change in goal with regular keeper Nick Zappala battling a chest infection and was unable to continue with Bryce Crawford heading in between the sticks for the second half.
Hanwood coach Brian Bertolin feels being able to bring on a keeper of the quality of Crawford shows the depth the club possesses.
"I think that it is the strength of the club at the moment," he said.
"Reserve grade is going really well and picked up another big win today. To have blokes step up into first grade when we need to is a strength of ours at the moment."
The home side was able to make a flying start to the second half with a switch of play from Johnson, who picked out Donetto, who used his speed to get to the byline and get the ball across to Rogato, who scored his second for the day.
Hanwood was able to hold strong in the second half with Crawford untested and able to see Hanwood keep their fifth clean sheet of the season.

While not being brilliant, according to Bertolin, he was still largely pleased with his side's performance.
"We just went through the motions and did what we had to do, and every time we scored a goal, we invited them back, and we were probably a bit lucky they didn't take some of their chances as we did," he said.
"The second half was pretty good, and we didn't look under too much threat there. It was a controlled performance, and without being brilliant, it was still good."
It was another strong performance for youngster Donetto, and Bertolin has been impressed with his progression in his first full season in first grade.
"The position he plays you can get chopped up a bit, but he has handled it really well," he said.
"He is an exceptional kid and has a great future at the club."
