The quiet hour shopping experience has been uniquely designed to reduce anxiety and sensory stress and will operate on Tuesday each week between 10:30am and 11:30am.
After a successful national trial in select stores that began in 2019, Woolworths Griffith is now one of 750 stores nationwide that will adopt quiet hour on a permanent basis.
During the quiet hour a number of temporary changes in the store will be made including:
- Turning off bakery ovens or chicken cooker buzzers
- Reducing volume on store phones and registers on the trading floor
- Clearing store entry ways
- Reducing lighting and in store music
- Removing roll cages from the shop floor and;
- Stopping all PA announcements (excluding cases of emergencies)
