When the Yenda Diggers Club closed last year, it was feared that could be the end for the 82-year-old venue, believed to be the second oldest RSL building in NSW.
But almost 12 months later, the doors are open, beers are on tap and the menu is full of delicious options, with the club celebrating its re-opening last week.
Manager of the Diggers Club, John Dolbel, says the response from the Yenda community has been fantastic.
"It's been really good, we've been really well received by the community and we've already had a fair few people in through the doors and coming around for meals," Mr Dolbel said.
"All the feedback has been really positive. People are glad to see us open and I think it's just really good for the Yenda community to have another meeting place."
While the club has retained that community feel that Yenda residents will remember it by, Mr Dolbel says some work has been done to revamp the venue.
"We've got all new carpet, all new paint, as well as new tables and chairs," he said.
"It was just a good general spruce up."
The building was the meeting place for Yenda's RSL Sub-Branch for decades, and when the closure was announced last year, sub-branch president Alan Wakely described it as "catastrophic" for the community.
Mr Wakely says the re-opening is "great news" for both the Yenda community as a whole and for the RSL sub-branch.
"We've already been in a couple of times and it's an absolutely beautiful design now," Mr Wakely said.
"We'll be having our meetings back there as soon as we get a chance to get them going again which will be very shortly."
Mr Wakely encouraged Yenda residents to head out and support the club as it re-establishes itself back in the centre of town.
