The session, taking place at the Community Centre, is open to any individuals looking to improve their own mental health and also any local services interested in getting involved with the program.

The Grow program centres around members of a community getting together to share their experiences and support one another's mental health, and local sessions have been taking place in Griffith every week for the past 20 years.

Having experienced first-hand the impact the weekly confidential meetings can have on someone's mental outlook, Grow program worker Jo Young will be hosting the information session.

"I finally built up the courage to go into my local Grow group in 2015 and it was what I had been looking for for a long time," Ms Young said.

"It was a group of people who when I talked about what was going on for me, they nodded their heads instead of looking at me like there was something wrong with me."

"They understood and they had some ways I could make changes in my life and since then I've applied the program and with the support of the group my life looks completely different."

For Ms Young, the beauty of the meetings came in their emphasis on community.

"What's special about Grow is it's just people doing it together," she said.

"It's essentially talking with other people who understand from personal experience what it's like to struggle with mental health and getting the support we need to live our best lives."

Anyone interested in getting involved can attend one of the free weekly meetings at 6pm every Tuesday at the Griffith Community Centre, call 1800 558 268, or attend the information session.

The information session will begin at 10am on Wednesday June 9 at the Community Centre.
