Andrew Jackson Sr and Keith Burge are participating in the Cancer Council's annual Shitbox Rally with over 100 other entrants, all raising money for cancer research. The autumn rally this year has raised just over $2.5 million.

The pair known as the Flying Scotsmen left on May 18^th to head to Alice Springs. From there, they'll be on a trip across the Northern Territory and Queensland, stopping at Hells Gate, Karumba and Taroom among others.

The rally will conclude at the Gold Coast on the 11^th of June, barring any major breakdowns. Breakdowns are a distinct possibility though, with entrants having to use cars worth less than $1000 to compete.

Mr Burge was keen to give back to the community and help raise money for the Cancer Council.

"Cancer research is a high priority these days, it's just a good charity so we thought we'd go and do a rally for a good charity ... it should be a bit of fun," he said.

"We'll be raising money when we get home as well. Together we can make a difference as Australians."

The rally goes for 3962 kilometres, but coupled with the trip to Alice Springs, the Scotsmen will be driving just over 7000kms in their vehicle. The duo have raised just over $15,000 so far with the help of both their corporate sponsors and individual donations.
