The event featured group exercises, as well as cooking demonstrations and an array of food made from fresh crops. Much of the food was grown at the community centre, as well as donated from farms.
Several curries were provided, as well as a pumpkin soup made from donated produce. Several attendees donated baked goods or other gifts as well, providing a symbolic banquet of different foods coming together.
A barbecue was run by students from the Western Riverina Community School, who were there to help build relationships with the community centre and other groups. The school had also previously planted a crop of spinach that was cooked on the day.
Emma Munro, a teacher with the school, said that those connections would be key to students succeeding going forward.
"It think it's important to branch across to the community centre, set up positive relationships going forward."
Students from the school had a great time as well, learning how to cook a curry and bonding with others from around the area.
Shaylee Frost said "Watching the curry being made was pretty good, I'll probably go home and try it."
Another student, Elizabeth Tafili, said "I loved meeting everybody and loved planting ... I had a good day."

Peta Dummett, the coordinator of the community centre said that she was pleasantly surprised at the response to the day considering the short notice that the event had.
"It went really well. We didn't advertise it much, we put it together in about a week but I'm really happy with how it went and the people who came out."
