The 30-year-old male was travelling east along Banna Avenue when he was stopped by police for a mobile random breath test at about 11:45pm on Sunday.
The Hanwood resident produced his license and allegedly told police he had consumed "two beers" earlier that evening.
Officers said they noticed the mans eyes were red and watery, and his speaking was sluggish.
The driver was subjected to a roadside breath test which returned a positive result and he was subsequently arrested and taken to Griffith Police Station for further breath analysis.
In the second test, the man allegedly recorded a positive reading of 0.185, more than three times the legal limit.
His licence was immediately suspended and he was charged with high range drink driving.
