The application will be publicly exhibited for 28 days at the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment for community feedback and review before moving on to the next stage.
The redevelopment is budgeted to cost $250 million, and will expand the hospital to provide greater medical coverage to the Griffith area. It will include an expanded Emergency Department, an increase in aged care facilities, more operating theatres, inpatient units and significantly expanded outpatient units including specialist clinics and oncology services.
Many of the major developments will be centred in the new 'Acute Services Building' located to the north of the main building, as well as demolishing existing redundant buildings and extensive landscaping to the surrounding area.

Wesley Fang, a Nationals member of the Legislative Council, has welcomed the application.
""The new Griffith Base Hospital will deliver all key clinical services in a purpose designed building to support contemporary models of care." Mr Fang said.
The redevelopment has been in the works since 2017 and early works have begun. Early and enabling works are anticipated to be completed in early 2022, ahead of main construction. The current timeline has construction complete in late 2025.
Mr Fang was looking forward to main construction beginning, in part due to the promise of further work for the community.
"Construction of the new hospital will support job opportunities, as well as apprenticeships and increased economic activity to the region." Mr Fang said.
The Significant State Development application is available to view electronically on the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment's major projects website.
