In a statement regarding the sign, Mr Landini said that the formation of the state was necessary due to the "overwhelming domination of NSW by the politicians of Newcastle, Sydney and Wollongong..."
The Riverina State Group's central philosophy is that electorates in the Riverina are not sufficiently represented in parliament, and that creation of a separate state will ensure the Riverina has an appropriate number of representatives at a state and federal level.
Gary Cooper, an early supporter of the group said that the new signs were there to drum up general awareness of the campaign more than anything else.
"We just want to let people know that we're out here..."
Cooper expressed confidence that the campaign had support, but that people were hesitant to commit to the idea.
"I think there's a lot of people waiting to see what happens."
He cited former Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce as a high-profile supporter of the idea.
