The course is being offered fee-free to eligible residents of the area, over the 22nd and 23rd of June.
TAFE NSW Forestry Centre Leader Dallas Goldspink said an average of 1000 Australians were injured in chainsaw accidents each year.
"A chainsaw in untrained hands is a lethal weapon... whether you're a farmer, a homeowner or a professional in the forestry industry and you use or plan to use a chainsaw, it's critical you understand the dangers."
The course is being delivered by experts at TAFE NSW and is aimed at all experience levels. It promises to focus on safely servicing, sharpening and operating chainsaws.
The course is being funded through the JobTrainer package and is open to anyone between 18 and 23, working in a declining industry or unemployed.
Enrolment is currently limited so prospective students are encouraged to call TAFE at 131 601 to find out more information.
