Police have issued Griffith residents a warning after a flurry of thefts from unlocked cars.

Police say five seperate vehicles in north Griffith were stolen from over the weekend.
Power tools, wallets, and personal papers were among the items stolen and a majority of the cars stolen from had been left unlocked overnight, police say.
Some of the thefts occurred on Edmondson Avenue and Dickson Road.
Police are investigating the incidents.

In 2019, Griffith suffered a significant spike in this thefts from unlocked cars, resulting in police warning of "crimes of opportunity" and telling residents to do all they can to protect themselves and their valuables.
"We want the community to make it as difficult as possible for these opportunistic thieves by making sure all cars are locked, secured and safe," Chief Inspector John Wadsworth said at the time.
When leaving your vehicle, make sure you:
- Don't keep valuables or personal items in your car
- if you park in the garage, make sure you lock it
- use a high-quality steering wheel lock
- make sure all windows and doors are closed and locked
- park in a safe place
- install a high quality electric alarm
- keep all valuables out of sight
- keep your keys safe
- install an engine immobiliser
