Band members Presley Young, Lilly Malone and Josephine Schemetzer attended the meeting to represent their cohort and Flynn Bunn was also in attendence.
Mayor Dal Broi commended the students on their success and noted that their parents and teachers would "no doubt be very proud of them".
Rhys Thomas, both the school's musical director and public speaking coordinator, thanked the students for their dedication in a whirlwind year.
He was also full of praise for the students' parents and the supporters of the Griffith East Public School band.
A video of the band's award-winning performance is available on the school's website.
