Fifty years on, the Museum continues to live 'One Man's Dream', preserving and sharing our region's history.
To mark this milestone, Pioneer Park Museum is embarking on a program of activities throughout the year, kicking off this April long weekend.
Acting Griffith Regional Arts Manager, Ms Margaret Andreazza said as history unfolds itself in front of us in the form of this pandemic, the Museum's annual Action Day usually held on Good Friday, will not be staged in 2021.
"However, we would like to invite the community to join in our year-long celebrations, with a range of workshops, exhibitions, tours, and displays on offer throughout 2021," said Ms Andreazza.
"Celebrations will begin Monday 5 April, where memories of the past 50 years will be projected onto the water tower opposite the Museum during the evenings until 12 April.
"People are invited to come and park in the Museum carpark and view the images which will highlight the many events and achievements of the Museum over the past 50 years," she added.
Museum Curator Bonnie Owen said Pioneer Park is the community's museum.
"The 50 year anniversary is a milestone that all residents - whether they be recent or longstanding - should be proud of. We are excited to bring this magical display to the community so all can join in the celebrations and appreciate the ongoing progress of such a fabulous facility," said Ms Owen.
The anniversary week will also feature an anniversary luncheon on Saturday 10 April for the volunteers of Pioneer Park and their families, and a new exhibition about Pioneer Park called 'One Man's Dream: Treasures of Pioneer Park Museum'.
The exhibition will be on display 5 - 12 April from 10am - 3pm each day. Floor talks on the exhibition will also be conducted by the Curator throughout the week, with bookings essential.
