Helen Dalton said she has been thinking about the move after being encouraged by a number of her constituents but suggested the recent federal government tourism package snob has only fueled her drive for change.
"The $1.2 billion tourism package was announced and we have again been sidelined when we are probably the most needy," Mrs Dalton told The Border Mail.
"Why cant we have a piece of the action?
"Why do we have this stimulus package which doesn't assist hoteliers and caravan parks and tourism businesses which were the most affected by border closures.

"That is a lot of money and nothing for us - it is a complete slap in the face."
Mrs Dalton said while Farrer has been a historically safe Liberal seat, which Ms Ley has held since 2001, there is nothing to say she couldn't win over the electorate.
"It is a big deal if I do run or throw my hat in the ring," she said.
"But never say never.
"The seat of Murray was also considered a safe Nationals seat.
"At the 2019 election I let them know I was coming for them and I did just that.
"If I run for Farrer I will give it a red hot crack and I think on the issue of water the constituents have really had enough."
While the Morrison Government doesn't have to call a federal election until 2022, Mrs Dalton said with everything that is going on an election should be called this year.
"I was at the Sydney March 4 Justice as we were sitting in parliament that day and I was blown away by the amount of men that were also supporting the movement," she said.
"Enough is enough and more needs to be done, and I think Scott Morrison needs to do the right thing here.
"The government is only just holding on and is in a world of pain at the moment."
Mrs Dalton said she will continue weighing up whether to officially put her hand up for the federal seat, but will be guided by the communities she currently represents.
"I am the people's servant," she said.
