Guest speaker Lucy Bloom's pull-no-punches, riotous words had a room of over one hundred guests soaking up her sage business and life advice for 'living one's wild and precious life' to the full.

Griffith Women in Business (GWIB) partnered with BEC Business Advice to put on the event treating guests to free champagne and nibbles on arrival.

GWIB president Belinda Johns welcomed the majority women audience for the night and thanked their event partners for making it all happen.

"It's such an opportunity for our members and our whole community to connect.

Change maker-communicator-advertising guru Lucy Bloom did not disappoint. For an hour she shared the highs and lows of her exceptional career and life journey and the wisdom she has picked up along the way.

From her discovery of fantasy as a way of preparing for life's challenges, chasing 'squirrels' and making your own opportunities to overcoming fear by 'practice', Ms Bloom lavished the audience with hilarious anecdotes of her life that have taught her something.

Ms Bloom spoke to all women who have ever had an idea they gave up on, feared getting 'no' as an answer or have ever felt like an 'impostor' in business board rooms. She left everyone feeling that bit more inspired to chase their dreams in life.

However, Ms Bloom took the spot light as an opportunity to highlight the 'national catastrophe' of violence against women in Australia.

"I never know with International Women's Day whether we are celebrating or commiserating and I think it's a bit of both," she said.

"We're celebrating because we have come a long way in Australia, but we've got such a long way to go.

"Every single week one woman is killed by their intimate partner. That's a national catastrophe that keeps happening."

Ms Bloom left guests with a call to action to mirror this year's International Women's Day theme which is Choose to Challenge.

'Join the CWA', 'donate to a local domestic violence support service', 'nominate a woman for Australian of the Year', switch boys and girls clothes at department stores, and google everyday the phrase 'regional women are the generals in the war against patriarchy'.
