The NSW Government has supported a $580,712 display centre and amenities at Lions Park, which proudly showcases The Dennis historic firefighting unit, and a new boat ramp and floating pontoon on the Murrumbidgee River with a $1.2 million investment.

Steph Cooke MP represented the NSW Government at the project upgrades and said it was an important investment in Darlington Point.

"These two great projects celebrate the town's history and open up opportunities for the future, encouraging tourism and a better understanding of the past," Ms Cooke said.

"There has been an enormous effort from the community, the Murrumbidgee Council and the Lions Club to bring these projects to life. Your work will be enjoyed for generations to come."

Murrumbidgee Council Mayor Ruth McRae said Council is very proud of the new facilities, particularly the display centre which showcases the town's historic fire truck, known as The Dennis.

Cr McRae said the new display centre and amenities block are a tremendous addition to the Lions Park, and the new boat ramp and pontoon is a fantastic community asset that makes living here and visiting more enticing.

"Thank you to the NSW Government for funding the project and to the Lions Club who have been instrumental in bringing this project to fruition," Cr McRae said.

"The new boat ramp and pontoon on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River not only look fantastic, but are a vast improvement on the old boat ramp."

Steph Cooke was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Deputy Premier in March 2019 to support the work of the Deputy Premier and represent the NSW Government in regional NSW.
