Mother-of-three Paula Paula Blanchard started Ladies Running Errands in Wagga Wagga as a way of being "the extra family member" for time-starved households.

She has been in business for one week, and so far she has done everything from dropping the kids off to ping pong practice to taking the grandparents out for a cuppa and a chat at their favourite cafe.

Ms Blanchard she especially loved the jobs that required the personal touch, such as showing new people around Wagga or spending quality time with the kids.

"It's about the heart. I'm out there to care and look after people, little children, the families," Ms Blanchard said.

"I do everything and anything I can to help families. I love it."

Ms Blanchard said she felt there was a great need for it in Wagga, with the hectic demands of modern life making work-life balance hard for busy parents.

Having worked as a nurse since 1996, she said knew of many mums who were at their wits' end juggling work and family life.

"I am a mum, I know how hard it is. I saw a great big need for it in Wagga with the mums at work, my co-workers, myself," Ms Blanchard said.

"I had a son who was very sick for a number of years and we ended up in Sydney. I could've used a service like that up there, so I'm so glad to have it here so I can help places like Ronald McDonald house."

She says she has been flat out for her first week, saying parents had taken a shine to the quirky business idea.
