In a low scoring first half, the Swans were able to take a three-point lead, with the home side kicking three behinds with the only scoring shots.
The sides traded goals in the third term, with Brittany Everett kicking the Swans first major as they took a 10-6 lead into the final break.
Everett kicked her second of the evening to push the lead to 10 points before Brookdale kicked a second goal to pull the margin back to four.
The Swans were able to hold onto their lead to take a 2.4 (16) to 2.0 (12) victory.
Coach Trevor Richards was proud of the efforts from the Swans and to see the work the girls had been putting in at training paying off.
"The last couple of weeks at training, we have been putting in a bit of extra effort, and a few things started to come off," he said.

"We had some good numbers down there on Friday as well, so that worked out really well."
The hand skills from his girls are something that the Swans coach really noticed.
"There were a couple of patches during the game where we strung multiply handballs together, and things like that are really good for the girls," he said.
"Have to remember that a lot of these girls haven't played before, and handballing is something that is completely foreign to them."
In what was a physical game, Richards said it was good to see his side try to match it with the physical Bluebirds side.
"They put a fair bit of pressure on the girls all the way through it, but it was a good solid contest," he said.
"We had a couple of girls who were pretty physical as well, so it wasn't one-sided physical."
While there was no bad performer in the team, Richards felt the efforts of those in the middle made a real difference.
"Em Preston was really good in the middle along with Noa Taipaleti and Jenna (Richards)," he said.
"Lou Robertson has been playing really well in the ruck over the last three weeks. Jess Hill was solid down back as well."
The Swans will look to build on their momentum when they take on Narrandera.
