Hanwood has climbed into the top two of the GDCA first grade standings following a four-wicket win over Diggers in their clash at Exies Oval.

After winning the toss and electing the bat, Diggers were able to make a steady start at the top of the order, with Luke Peruzzi and Mark Favell putting on 36 after 16 overs before Peruzzi was knocked over by Angus Bartter (1/37).
Trevor Richards joined Favell in the middle, and the experienced pair were able to lift the scoring rate to get their side to 55 before Mark Favell (27) fell to the bowling Dean Catanzariti.
Tom Valeri (4) was bowled by Luke Docherty eight runs later before Theo Valeri and Richards looked to lift their side towards a defendable total.
In the next 11 overs, Valeri and Richards were able to put on 51 before Josh Carn made the crucial breakthrough with the wicket of Richards (18) when he was caught behind by Talwinder Singh, but Valeri kept the scoreboard ticking over.

Valeri (58*) posted a half-century to help his side reach 5/151 at the end of their 45 overs.
Tom Shannon (8) fell in the eighth over when he was caught and bowled by Ryan Bulluss (1/34) before Singh and Oliver Bartter started to take the game away from Diggers.
The second-wicket partnership lifted Hanwood to 71 before Singh (38) was dismissed by Luke Peruzzi, who followed it up soon after with the wicket of Catanzariti (4).
Bartter and Docherty were able to push their side towards the 100-mark before Mark Favell knocked over Bartter (31) while Peruzzi (3/37) dismissed Jack Rowston (1).
Docherty led the way for Hanwood as a 28-run stand with Jordan Whitworth got their side into a strong position, and while Whitworth (9) was dismissed by Favell (2/35), Charlie Cunial (8*) and Docherty (48*) were able to get their side over the line with nine overs in hand and four wickets in hand.
