More environmentally friendly? Better economy? Well now is your chance to turn that image into a reality.

Griffith City Council are inviting members of the community to help shape the next Community Strategic Plan to outline how the city will change over the next few years.

The strategic plan is renewed and refreshed during each council election, and it guides what commitments the incoming council will prioritise over their term.

Council's director of economic and organisational development, Shireen Donaldson, says the Griffith community has an important role to play in making their voices heard.

"It's a reflection of the community's aspirations over that four year period ... the city needs to have a vision" Mrs Donaldson said.

"It's easy to make decisions in real-time, but the community needs to think about what's coming and some things take longer to organise."

Griffith residents are being asked to let council know what they think should be prioritised in Griffith in the future.

"It might be community safety, it might be economic growth, it could be lifestyle, cultural arts and facilities, or the environment," Mrs Donaldson said.

"We've seen in the last few years that the environment is really high up on our list of priorities as a community."

Council will consult with members of the community through regular Council Cafe events, pop-up surveys, and consultations with non-government agencies and community groups.

The strategic plan is currently divided into four key areas: Leadership, love the lifestyle, growing our city and valuing our enviornment.

Under each area there are 10 or so objectives the council will look to achieve over their term.

The current plan is available on the Council website.

The next Community Strategic Plan will be finalised and adopted within the first six months of the next council's term.
