At 10:25am on March 1, a 50-seater Qantas plane will take off from Sydney Airport and make it's way to Griffith Regional Airport, touching down at 12:05pm.

The moment will mark the official launch of a much celebrated new daily line between Griffith and the state capital, delivered by Australia's biggest airline.

Tickets for the flights are at least $185.
Qantas Group Executive, John Gissing will be in Griffith on the day of the first flight to celebrate the expansion to his airline's network.
When the line was first announced, Mr Gissing said it would help regional areas like Griffith recover from the impacts of the pandemic.
"As the national carrier, we have an important role to play in driving tourism and supporting the industry's recovery," Mr Gissing said.
"We're also pleased to be able to offer Riverina residents more choice and competitive fares on these routes which have been monopolies for years."
The announcement was welcomed by Griffith City Council, with Mayor John Dal Broi describing it as "a major boost to the regions economy".
The start date for the flights was originally touted to be February 1, but a flurry of COVID-19 cases saw the lift off date pushed back to March.
There are currently existing flights between Griffith and Melbourne operated by East-West Airlines, and flights between Griffith and Sydney operated by Regional Express Airlines.
Late last year, Regional Express announced flights between Sydney and Melbourne.
Wearing a face mask is currently mandatory while inside Griffith Airport.
