Victorians MPs Bill Tilley and Tim Quilty have condemned the Victorian government's decision to plunge the entire state of Victoria into lockdown for five days.
Mr Tilley said it was a farce.
"What was supposed to be a gold standard Hotel Quarantine system has turned into fool's gold once again," he said.
Mr Quilty likened Victorians to "caged animals" and said he was "struggling to find the words to describe this bloody ridiculous overreaction."
Alpine Shire mayor John Forsyth was wary about the response of NSW to the lockdown but said the tourism impact would not be as great as if it had occurred in school holidays.
"These outbreaks are really Melbourne-centric and Victoria is a much bigger state than just Melbourne and if NSW decides to do anything I hope they reinstate the border bubble," he said.
