Rodney 'Rocket' Bordin has been a member of the Exies Cricket Club for over 20 years and on January 22, the house he had lived in for 23 years with his mother burnt down.
Given the tragic circumstances, the club has jumped in to help one of their own.
"He is just so well-loved around the club, and he just loves the game of cricket," committee member Peter Davis said.
It will be a night filled with entertainment at Exies Oval to help raise money for the Bordin family with a charity cricket match to be played with a team selected by Rodney to take on the remaining players.
"Each player has committed to donating $50 before they can be considered for selection and Rocket will select his team from there," committee member Duane Ashcroft said.
The club has been blown away by not only the support from the cricketing community but also Griffith as a whole.
There will be raffles and auctions including items donated by Cricket NSW and one night's accommodation including food and beverages at the Whitton Malt House.
The event will get underway at 6pm at Exies Sports Club on Friday.
