The Griffith group will be hosting an event this weekend to kick off parkrun in Griffith with the hope of forming long last connections for those who get involved according to organiser Glennis Damini.
"The exercise is good but its also if people are feeling a bit isolated they can come and become apart of the community and connect with people," she said.
"Even if they can't walk or run, you can come and be a volunteer. If people are new to town, it can be a great way to meet new people. It will be good for both your heart and your head."
Damini wanted to bring parkrun to Griffith after experiencing the atmosphere for herself in Echuca.
"The feeling and the welcoming I still get goosebumps," she said.
"It was so fantastic. You didn't have to be a runner, every time someone crossed the line they were getting cheered, and it was just a great atmosphere, and it made people feel good about themselves."
Griffith City Council and Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network have both made donations to help get the event off the ground in Griffith, and Damini thanked them for the contribution.
The parkrun launch will being at 7.30am on Saturday at Ted Scobie Oval with a sausage sizzle and coffee van on hand to provide refreshments.
Damini encouraged anyone interested to get online and register on the parkrun website before Saturday.
