The 18 year old cadet was honoured for his skills, knowledge and dedication to the 340 squadron of the Griffith Australian Air Force Cadets, which he felt proud to receive.

"I'd just like to thank mum, dad and Michael for starting the cadets," Mr Robinson said upon receiving the award.

"We are celebrating five years in the cadets this year, and I'd like to thank everyone for the award."

Mr Robinson enlisted into the cadets as one of the original members of the 340 squadron in 2016 and during that time has been responsible for discipline and drill and mentoring other younger cadets in the squadron.

During these five years he has balanced the cadets, sport, working a part time job and completing his higher school certificate however Mr Robinson says it's been worth it for the people you meet and the experiences you have.

"The social skills you learn is great. Skills that can be used anywhere and everywhere in every day life," he said.

"You go away on trips and meet people from all over Australia including the big cities that you wouldn't normally get to meet."

Despite not really knowing what his next move is with respect to his future he has now become a member of Beelbangarra Brigade of the NSW Royal Fire Service and will be returning to the Griffith Cadets as a civilian staff member. He wishes to pass on his skills and experience to ensure the youth of Griffith have the same or better experience in the Australian Air force Cadets.
