MIA residents have realised there is no better way to celebrate Australia Day, than by rolling up their sleeves and helping out their fellow 'strayans, ahead of a crucial week for bloodbanks.

Many blood donation centres aren't open on public holidays, so Australian Red Cross Lifeblood looks to get as many donations over the line before Australia Day, in order to avoid any shortages.
The mobile donor centre is heading to the MIA this week, and almost every time slot is booked out.
Manager of the donor centre, Neil Wright, praised the MIA residents for their commitment.
"The community in the Riverina and the MIA is very generous, we're one of the best performing regions in the state," he said.
"Because of COVID-19 restrictions, the maximum donors we can take every day is around 20. But because of our great donors in Griffith and Leeton, we've been filling those appointments very well."
Despite being almost fully booked out, Mr Wright encouraged any potential donors that they haven't missed the chance to help out.
"People can certainly check on the day, because you'll often get late cancellations," he said.
"It's a very easy thing to do. It takes about an hour of your time and you save three lives. And you get some lovely refreshments at the end of the donation."

The mobile donor centre will be at 1 Jarrah Street in Leeton on Wednesday, January 20 between 9:30am and 2:30pm.
It will then head to Griffith, where it will set up at Repco on Kidman Way from 1:00pm on Thursday, January 21 and from 7:30am to 2:00pm on Friday, January 22.
