Docherty said it was an amazing experience to be a part of especially considering he thought he was fortunate to be selected in the side.
"I was pretty lucky to be included considering I didn't take as many wickets as I would have liked to at Country Champs," he said.
"But they chose me because they thought I was decent enough and pretty happy with how it all went.
"It is just good to represent the town and doing it in Sydney for the five-odd years showing kids that it is doable. I wasn't anything too crash hot when I was 16-17."
The Hanwood quick was originally selected in the NSW Country Bush Blues side who were set to take part in a carnival that featured the NSW's Men's Indigenous sides as well as Queensland Country and ACT/NSW Country.
With that competition cancelled due to COVID-19, the Country Cricket Invitational Series was thrown together at the last minute.
Docherty said it was a credit to those involved to get the series off the ground at short notice.
"It was really good from Cricket ACT and Bruce Whitehouse from Cricket NSW to scrape something together," he said. "We got six games of really quality cricket, and the standard never dropped."
Docherty finished the carnival with three wickets which included the economical figures of 2/26 off nine overs in the final 50-over clash. The fast bowler was happy with his performance across the four games he took part in which included a wicket on debut.
"It was a pretty big wicket as well," he said.
"Blake Dean has played a lot of second XI cricket for ACT and to get it the way I did I was really happy. I really thought about it.
"I have seen that standard of cricket before and have probably played in teams that were just as good it was just at the time I don't think I performed as well as what I did last week. I was happy to be able to say that I have seen the standard and that I can play at it."
Docherty will now turn his attention to the next big representative competition which will see Riverina take on Newcastle in the Country Championship final.
