Hay won the toss and elected to bat, but it was Griffith who was able to get the early ascendancy with Alex Flood (2/34) picking up the wicket of Luke Arandt (7) while Tom Greenaway (1/13) knocked over Hay's skipper Dean Aylett (4).
Fergus Cattanach (36) was the only Hay batsman who was able to make any real impact on the scoreboard as the visitors looked to try and bat out the overs and get a defendable total.
Jimmy Binks (5/17) was able to do the damage to Hay's middle order with five wickets while Mitch Williams-Hedges (1/7) was able to keep it tight only going for seven runs off his 10 overs to see Hay bowled out for 117.
Griffith captain Haydn Pascoe was full of praise for his bowling line up which had to be adjusted due to injury.
"Connor hurt his hamstring yesterday, and he took five against them last time they played (in Creet)," he said.
"With him unavailable Binksy stepped up and took five-fa.
"It wasn't just him though Tom Greenaway bowled really well and Alex bowled well as well, and he was able to get a bit of bounce when he bent his back."
Griffith lost Williams-Hedges (3) early, but Oliver Bartter and Pascoe were able to get their side back on track with a 29-run partnership.
The fall of Bartter (24) brought Talwinder Singh to the crease and while Pascoe (27), Tom Shannon and Hayden Forner (6) fell, Singh (41*) was able to guide his side to a five-wicket victory with 17.2 overs remaining.
Pascoe said it was a credit to the batters for getting their side to victory pretty comfortably in conditions that offered a bit for the bowlers.
"I thought they (Hay) were batting really slow and sort of batting themselves out of the game but the pitch was actually doing a bit in the end," he said.
"When we went in to bat I think Oli was getting a couple that were cutting too much to get a bat near them.
"I think in the end it is a credit to the boys to be able to chase that down in the amount of overs that we did and only being five down at the end."
Griffith will have next week off before taking on Junee on January 31.
