IN RECENT weeks residents and visitors to the MIA have been coming forward in droves for COVID-19 tests, according to the Murrumbidgee Local Health District.

This has meant local testing clinics have been extending their hours to cater for the increased demand.
In bigger centres such as Griffith, Wagga and Lavington, extra staff have been rostered on and opening hours extended as needed to cater for the increased number of people seeking a test.
Residents in Leeton can still be tested at the COVID-19 clinic at Leeton Community Health, located on hospital's grounds.
MLHD's acting COVID co-ordinator Keryl Dallinger said in the past week between 300 and 500 tests have been conducted per day in the region.

"Our clinics have the ability to flex up and down, according to demand," she said.
"We liaise with the other testing providers, including the GP respiratory clinics and private pathology labs to ensure that between us we have the capacity to test everyone who wants a test, as well as minimise wait times."
All tests conducted at Murrumbidgee Local Health District's clinics and hospitals are analysed locally by NSW Health Pathology, with most results received within 24 hours.
"We would like to thank everyone who has come forward for a test, especially over the holiday period," Ms Dallinger said.
