Earlier in the week, NSW Health said that a Sydney resident who travelled on a flight from Sydney to Griffith on December 21 subsequently returned a positive test result for coronavirus in Sydney on 24 December.
The Murrumbidgee Local Health Distrisct said that as of Monday night, all contacts of the person on the flight have so far returned negative test results.
They added that the person did not know they were a close contact of a COVID case when they flew and did nothing wrong.
Twenty-eight passengers and one flight attendant were identified as close contacts along with members of the Griffith household the person visited.
IN OTHER NEWS:
A spokesperson for the MLHD said people can continue to test positive for COVID-19 up to 14 days after exposure, so the close contacts will be tested again before leaving isolation.
"With an increased number of people travelling at this time of year we must all keep up our guard against COVID-19 by limiting social interactions wherever possible and following recommended infection control practices, including physical distancing and hand hygiene," they said.
"If you are feeling at all unwell, or have even the slightest symptoms, get tested and stay home until you receive a negative result."
Testing clinics are open throughout the holiday break, including New Year's Day. To find the nearest clinic visit https://www.nsw.gov.au/.../how-to-protect.../clinics or contact your GP.
In the MLHD, call the Murrumbidgee COVID-19 Hotline (from 8am to 6pm) on 1800 831 099 to be matched with a testing option.
