Seven ladies remembered the tradition and all the guys forgot.
It was also the final run of the hotfoot competition.
In the long course there was a remote possibility of a draw for first place.
The possibility depended on Keith Riley crossing the line first and Aidan Fattore coming 26th or further down the list.
As it happened, for the first time in years, Riley with a PB was first home 36m10s.
Fattore was not in the top three, but he was eighth and that was good enough for him to win the competition with 230 points.
Credit to Riley who is in form, he was second in the competition with 212 points and Rodney Beckwith was third with 145 points.
Michael John was second in the long course 28m26s and Mia Stockwell was 3rd 30m46s.
The short course trophy was really a competition between Bede Kenny and Elio Minato with only eight points separating them.
MORE SPORT:
Both have been running well and did not disappoint on the day.
Kenny claimed the trophy with 175 points, Minato was second with 159 points and Lynette Kenny was third with 114 points.
Digby Jones decided to make an appearance and won the short course run 16m0s.
He was followed home by Bede Kenny 15m52s and Lynette Kenny in third with 19m54s.
Elio Minato achieved a PB, 19m33s and was fourth.
Tony Rokov relocated to Victoria in April. He was 3.2km short of his 2000km milestone.
COVID-19 border closures prevented his return to the "hill", however on Saturday he was there and was presented with his 2000km medallion.
Next week is the commencement of the "be social" runs.
There are no points and like ability runners are set off in groups with the aim for them to return as a group.
Committee members and the club in general are aware of the recent COVID-19 cluster in the Northern Beaches and are monitoring developments closely.
If need be there may be short notice changed arrangements for the "be social" runs.
