After a year such as this

With Fire, Flood and COVID,

With so much gone amiss.

It's time for some reflection

On what we all hold dear

To understand what we have

To bring our loved one's near

Say thanks because we have them

They did not slip away

And together we go forward

To another Christmas day

But stand in thought a moment

For those who slipped away

For those with empty places

At their table Christmas day

And reflect upon our future

That has our loved one's there

So we can cherish Christmas

As a time we still can share.

I work with lots of young people from disadvantage backgrounds. I see the impacts of poverty on their daily life and am accustomed to its impacts.

But there is always a time or a conversation which stops and makes you think.

Last week I had a 6-year-old girl tell me what she wanted for Christmas.

Expecting to hear of dolls and other toys, I was speechless when she said; "I just want Mummy to be happy. Mummy has had such a difficult year without work. I'm just want her to be with her family so we can all have fun together."

Children always have a way of capturing the true essence of Christmas

It's time the NSW Government gave support to Helen Dalton MP.

The water management amendment under the 2004 national water initiative, all state governments and federal agreed to implement a Water Register, some 16 years later we are still waiting for this to happen.

There has been already 118 enquiries and reports into water management.

Why wait for another enquiry to be finalised, why pursue more "consultations and feedback" when we have a draft law for a public Water Register.

NSW Government stated that it supports transparency, but if there were problems with Mrs Dalton's bill then the NSW Government should have improved it rather than voting it down.

It's a shame as Mrs Dalton's new law would have provided for NSW's first ever genuine public register listing all politicians, corporations and individuals who owns our water.

Would someone please answer the question - who can claim ownership of rain?
