At a luncheon with fellow club members, Mrs Bonaventura received a certificate and a bouquet of flowers, as they celebrated her becoming the first person to reach the milestone with the club.
The club is undoubtedly very different now to when it was first formed in 1980.
Mrs Bonaventura was one of the clubs 17 founding members, at a time where the women had to follow a strict dress code.
This included white hats and stockings, as well as white dresses which had to go 15 inches below the knee.
But as the club's rules, venue and members changed over the years, one aspect remained a constant: Rose Bonaventura.
Speaking to The Area News, she admitted that while she has enjoyed playing the "fantastic" sport of lawn bowls for forty years, it is the social side of the club she really loves.
"I have met so many love people through the club ... it's given me something to do and something to look forward to," she said.
"I didn't expect to ever reach 40 years with the club."
At 84 years old, Mrs Bonaventura said she still tries to play as often as she can, and she hopes to continue playing for many years to come.
