Country music star Jason Owen won't need to bring the microphone when he comes through the MIA this summer, but he will be packing money, toys, and groceries.

The X-Factor runner-up is embarking on an ambitious journey, driving 8,000 kilometres over 10 days through Queensland, NSW, Victoria and South Australia, to personally deliver gifts to more than 500 children in need.
Some of his stops will take place in Narrandera, Carrathool, Rankins Springs and Griffith, before he heads inland towards the Central West.
As well as delivering gifts, he is going to be spending time at schools and giving motivational chats to the youngsters.
He is completing the mission for his 'Doin It For Rural Aussie Kids' charity, which raises funds for children doing it tough in regional areas.
The organisation recently called on families and organisations to put themselves or any deserving recipients of some Christmas help forward, resulting in over 1,000 nominations.
This will be the second time Mr Owen embarks on this Christmas journey, which he said gives him a chance to meet some of the "most courageous children in the nation".
"These kids have been through unbelievable challenges such as horrendous medical treatment, lost a parent through illness, experienced serious farming accidents and been rocked to the core by drought and bushfires," he said.

"This year has been unprecedented so we're hoping this will bring deserving rural kids a little cheer."
A proportion of funds raised through sales of Mr Owen's new 'So This is Christmas' album will also be donated to the charity.
He is expected to reach the MIA on the 16th of December.
