With the temperatures predicted to reach 43 degrees on Saturday that would see all of the action called off under the extreme heat rules in the GDCA by-laws.
Under the rule, if at 6pm on Friday, the temperature is predicted to reach 42.1 or above at 3pm on Saturday then all games will be called off. If the temperature is predicted to be between 40.1 and 42 degrees the game will be reduced from the day's play and drinks to be taken every 10 overs.
It has been a season that has already been heavily affected by weather with three of the seven rounds of the first-grade season having been washed out and should this weekend not go ahead it would mean half of the season has been abandoned.
If the temperature does drop below the cancellation point, it will see Leagues and Diggers looking to continue their good form when they face off under lights at Exies No 1.
Diggers are the only team left in the competition with a 100 per cent record having won the two games they have been able to complete so far this season.
Captain Trevor Richards knows his side probably won't get out in the middle again this weekend which will mean they have only a third of the games they should have at this point of the season.
"That's the thing at the moment you are sort of looking at the forecast you are probably guessing that there won't be a game," he said.
"We should have played six games this season once you factor in the two byes, but we have only played two."
Richards was full of praise for the efforts of his bowlers in the two games that they have been able to play.
"I think we have really worked well as a group," he said.
"Last weekend, for instance, Luke Peruzzi bowled really well, and we have had someone step up with the ball each week, so that's been good."
If the Panthers were able to take the full points from the clash it would see them rise to the top of the table however with Coro having the bye this weekend. Leagues would move into first thanks to the five points from an abandoned 50-over clash.
Meanwhile, Exies Eagles will look to use the confidence gained from their success in the Don Coleman Shield when they look to pick up their first win in the first grade competition when they take on Hanwood on Exies No 2.
Hanwood will be looking to exit the bye the same way they entered off the back of a win having picked up their first win of the season after a clash with Leagues.
