Mr Todd was described by those present as an '18th Century man living in the 21st Century', sharing stories of his quirky dedication to doing things the old-fashioned way.
"He didn't even believe in daylight savings," Shirley Norris, former curator of the Pioneer Park Museum remarked, thinking of her interactions with Mr Todd.
"That would always make doctor's appointments interesting!"
"He was extremely old-fashioned but a real character to know."
Long time friend and collaborator Rodney Guest who officially cut the ribbon to open the Todd Shed on the day, described Mr Todd as 'a collector of everything' and he was proud see the enormous project finally open.
"It's good to see it's come to fruition," Mr Guest said in his address at the ceremony.
"I'm sure Ian would be very proud with what you've done."
The Todd Shed, is a purpose built corrugated iron structure which houses the collection of historic motorized vehicles and horse drawn vehicles built, restored and used by Mr Todd during his farming career. The collection includes several beautifully restored carts as well his collection of vintage Rugby vehicles.
Pioneer Park Museum Curator Bonnie Owen, who has been involved with the construction of the shed since 2017 said it was wonderful that now the public can enjoy a piece of the history of what Griffith's soldier settlers have contributed to the regional.
"Up until now we have not had a heritage vehicle exhibit and it's lovely to finally put this interesting and local collection on display," Mrs Owen said.
The Todd Shed is a purpose built exhibition space which cost over $360,000 to build. It was funded through a $50,000 bequest from Ian Todd and a generous contribution from Griffith City Council to fund the remaining costs.
It is now open to the public Tuesday to Sunday. Visit the Pioneer Park Museum website for more information.
