Planned LHAC events were hastily cancelled and a group chat platform was established as a means of staying in contact. Information on COVID-19 was coming at us from every direction and in an overwhelming abundance.
The LHAC decided the most important thing we could do for our confused community was to disseminate reliable information in an understandable format. With assistance from MLHD, MPHN and Griffith Base Hospital management, we kept our community informed through daily social media posts and relevant monthly print articles.
As an LHAC it is our role to be the central connection between the local community and health service; to work with facility managers to identify local service needs; find ways to advocate for improved access to services, and to assist in planning and development. As community representatives and through our social, business and community networks, we are committed to keeping our finger on the pulse of community concerns and allay fears with accurate and timely information which is sought out as being reliable and trustworthy.
Our year concludes with our AGM this week and we would like to wish our amazingly resilient community a blessed and safe Christmas.
