2020 is a year founder and president of Griffith Women in Business (GWB), Belinda Johns would like to put swiftly behind her. Aside from juggling her own business, Straightlines Design and Marketing and a family, Mrs Johns coordinates all events for GWB and 2020 has been a roller coaster she said.
"This year we had our full 2020 calender planned with Women in Business, we were just about to finalise everything and then COVID hit," Mrs Johns said.
"I wear two hats as the president and running my own business and looking back I feel bad I didn't drive for ways to reconnect with our members during COVID but we are all volunteers working and trying to deal with all the changes on our own."
The Griffith not for profit puts on a number of events each year to help connect women in the local area to find support, inspiration, expertise and networking opportunities. However, this year all plans went out the window and it was survival mode for many of their members.
"Some of our key members own beauticians, hairdressers, work in the fitness industry and retail industry and they were in full closure during lockdown," Mrs Johns said.
The GWB will also hold their Annual General Meeting December 1 and hope to discuss what exciting opportunities they can bring to their members.
"The AGM will probably takes us a whole 2 minutes because we have nothing to report for the year," Mrs Johns joked.
"But I really wanted to push for a chance to reconnect if we can, see people face to face, have a drink and some nice nibbles then discuss plans for next year.
"We're hoping to announce a couple of things we have planned and discuss how we are going to implement COVID safe policies moving forward."
Bookings are essential due to COVID restrictions, tickets are $22.19 each and numbers are capped at 35 to be COVID safe.
