NSW Country reps Ryan Brown (Lavington) and Jarryd Hatton (Corowa) will join Griffith's Luke Docherty, who's played second grade for Western Suburbs in Sydney.

"I think our bowling is going to be as strong as we've ever had," third-year coach Trent Ball said.

Brown has been a stalwart of the Riverina team and is coming off his greatest achievement, winning selection for his State at the Australian Country Championships.

The right-armer turned 28 last Sunday and celebrated early with his best figures of the season (4-34) at club level the day before.

Brown has pace, but the shortened version of 50-over cricket requires more than blasting batsmen out.

"I just tried to hit a good line and length (last week) and use a few surprise balls as well, a lot more slower balls," Brown explained.

"They hadn't been working for a few years, but I've been working hard on those slower balls."

Riverina also has Griffith product and current Wodonga all-rounder Theo Valeri and Brown's younger brother Nathan, who can both generate good pace, while the the spin options include former NSW Country off-spinner Ben Mitchell (Corowa) and captain Zac Simmonds (Belvoir).

Wagga's Brayden Ambler, Griffith duo Dean Bennett and Haydn Pascoe and debutant Matt Sharp (Lavington) are likely to fill the top order.

St Patrick's wicketkeeper Angus Kilby will also contest his first senior carnival.

"I played junior Riverina with Luke Docherty and Dean Bennett, so it will be good to play with them again," he said.

The Country Championships started in 1986-87 and Riverina has won only once, in 2002-03.

It starts its campaign against ACT Southern Districts in Goulburn on Friday, followed by Western and Greater Illawarra this weekend.

The other four zones will meet but, due to COVID-19, it's uncertain if the two winners will play a grand final.
