Fundraising efforts for breast cancer awareness and support in October have seen a $12 000 target shattered by Griffith businesses this year.

In a generous effort Griffith Real Estate and lingerie business Strawberries on Ice have combined to raise a total of $20 385 for The McGrath Foundation, to help fund breast care nurses like Griffith's own, Fiona Shields.
Even with COVID forcing organisers to take fundraising efforts online this year, the group smashed last year's total of just over $18 000, saying the town itself mainly took the lead in getting the fundraiser off the ground.
"We didn't know if we were even going to do it this year. We thought it was going to be an off year," Tony Santolin, director of Griffith Real Estate said.
"But then the community really started buzzing and pushing the momentum, they took the lead and made us proud."
"I took the first two weeks of October off from work but then people were emailing me and contacting me and asking what was going on for Pink Up Griffith," Jessica Zandona, organiser of Pink Up Griffith fundraising at Griffith RE joked.
Mr Santolin expressed gratitude to Griffith lingerie business Strawberries on Ice who raised a generous total of $1500 from bra donations however, many Griffith businesses contributed prizes and held their own events to help the cause as well.
