Headspace Day is a national day of support for the mental health and well-being of young people held across Australia. The free event at Memorial Park will focus on the Headspace 'Small Steps Every Day' campaign which encourages young people to make small daily decisions that prioritise their mental and emotional well-being.

Activities on the day will include gentle group exercise, a large blackboard for writing uplifting messages and teams from Wellways and Griffith Community Drug Action who will provide information packs and friendly staff to chat to.
COVID has disrupted access many young people have to mental health services in 2020 and during lockdown, the Griffith Headspace branch reluctantly had to close its doors to young people.
"The centre did have to close doors for a period of time during the heavier impact of COVID but we are now open to all and back to taking face to face appointments as well as keeping the option of Telehealth if the young person prefers," Cassandra Campbell-Smith, community engagement officer in Griffith explained.
Even though Headspace is a service targeted at young people aged 12-25 years old, all are welcome to join in on Saturday.
"We're asking the whole community to come through. Whilst Headspace takes referrals for young people, we also want to acknowledge their family and friends. We have groups specifically for family & friends to give them assistance in helping their young people," Ms Campbell-Smith said.
