Colour schemes, artwork, materials and paint, landscaping, multi-faith chapel, ease of parking, coupled with good care, all contribute positively to patient health and recovery.
At our recent monthly meeting we welcomed new members to our community. Although hopeful, the Carols in the park may not happen this year but hopefully next year we can put on a wonderful evening of carols.
Bilingual workers have been busy with the community. For the Italian community, in particular the elderly, there exists anxiety of being lonely and unable to clearly understand filling in of forms, completing contracts and assessments with aged care service providers.
Furthermore, many in the Italian community were not aware of the aged care in the home services that are currently exist and which are able to assist in so many areas to make the older person's life pleasant without the need to go to an aged care centre.
For the Afghani community, the issues that came to the surface were vastly altogether different. Most of Afghani community are on temporary protection visas and are unable to source loans, although, they have been living in Griffith for a long time on this type of visa.
The slow action to get their families to Australia is also a long ongoing process. Availability of rental properties are an ongoing concern and interpreting for forms, assistance at the hospital and Centrelink are an ongoing struggle.
